Sometimes you travel far and wide so you can appreciate nature. But it’s so easy to not take notice of the beauty right on your doorstep. A friend and I decided to take a road-trip to the Lake District before I leave for Canada in a few weeks.
The Lake District attracts tourists from all around the world. I’ve never really appreciated the area until this year when I was showing my Canadian friends around who were visiting England. The lakes are a beautiful colour of blue and are surrounded by the verdant countryside.
The Lake District has an array of activities for all ages including rowing on the lake, hiking, museums and boat tours. I used to LOVE coming here when I was a child! You can then take a 30 minute boat trip from Windermere to Ambleside to explore its independent shops, quaint cafes and winding streets.
My favourite cafe in Ambleside is called ‘Apple Pie.’ I always have the quiche of the day with twice cooked chips then treat myself to a dessert to take out while I wander about the town. A definite must go to if ever you’re in Ambleside!
